Privacy

This page covers the securemind.chat website. The SecureMind software you can install is a separate thing, and it is described below.

This website

The website uses Google Analytics to count visits: which pages are opened, roughly where from and on what kind of device. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to do this. The website has no advertising and no accounts, and it remembers your light or dark theme choice in your browser.

Like any website, it is served by a hosting service (Amazon Web Services). That service keeps ordinary request statistics, such as which pages were requested, roughly which country the request came from and what kind of device it was. The site owner sees them only as totals, to learn how much the site is used.

There is one form: an optional contact form for the planned hosted option, on the Install page. If you use it, the email address, name and note you type are sent to a form service that collects them for the site owner. They are used only to write to you about that option, are not shared or sold, and are deleted if you ask (use the Contact page). The form sets no cookies. While no form service is connected, the page shows an email link instead.

Voting for the planned desktop app and hosted option happens on GitHub, with your own GitHub account. GitHub keeps that vote under its own policy. This site does not see who voted.

The Install page asks GitHub for the project's star and fork counts when it loads, so GitHub sees that request from your browser. The links to GitHub, LinkedIn, PayPal and the author's site lead to other sites that have their own policies.

The SecureMind software

The software has no tracking and does not report to the author. You run it on your own computer or in your own AWS account, and your data stays there. Nothing tells the author who uses it or how.

The code is open, so you can check that for yourself. The sample site at sample.securemind.chat has made-up data and also uses Google Analytics.
